If you’re like most of my clients, you want to grow your practice, and, to that end, you need new patients. You know you have to market your practice to grow it and get new patients, but…

Marketing isn’t your thing.

Maybe you despise marketing. Maybe you feel like you don’t know how to market your practice effectively. Or maybe you feel like you’re wasting time trying all sorts of tactics and approaches that aren’t working. So, you refrain from or avoid it.

The bottom line is, you want to focus on your work and your patients, not worry about marketing your practice That’s understandable. But if you’ve adopted a closed mindset towards marketing or a mindset that says, ‘Marketing is bad’, it’s unlikely marketing is going to work for your practice or help you get your practice where you want it to be.

If you really want to grow your practice and get new patients, you need an open mindset towards marketing that says, ‘Marketing works for me! It serves my practice! It helps me attract new patients with ease! It helps me grow my practice!’ (No, you don’t have to say, ‘I love marketing’, though you just might when you see the difference this simple shift makes.)

With your new mindset, you can start to think about and approach marketing differently. Instead of having an adversarial relationship with it, you can start to think about how it can work for your practice and help you achieve your practice goals.

Maybe that new mindset leads you to:

  • Hire an expert to develop your marketing strategy and plan, so you know what you need to do to hit your practice growth and new patient goals.
  • Find a consultant, agency, assistant, or employee to help you execute your tactical marketing, so you don’t have to do any of your marketing.
  • Determine what marketing efforts are getting you real results and ditch the rest, so you can focus on and optimize what’s working well and not feel like you’re wasting time, energy, or money on marketing that’s not working.
  • Figure out what you like to do and what feels natural to you and forget or delegate everything else that creates friction, so you don’t find yourself cursing marketing again.
  • Stick with your marketing efforts and see them through, instead of starting and stopping over and over again, so you can see tangible outcomes.
  • Track your marketing metrics, so you have actual data to make decisions.
  • Feel excited about and proud of your marketing efforts, so you want to do more.
  • Start seeing all of the ways your marketing is working for your practice, so you can sleep easy at night knowing a steady stream of new patients are coming your way.

These shifts in your actions and behaviors, as well as your relationship with marketing, can make all of the difference between you growing your practice and getting the new patients you need or not.
